Magnesium burning inside dry ice

This has been done many times, but is still fun and easy. This is the first time that I have tried it myself. The reaction produces Magnesium Oxide and Carbon

2 Mg(s) + CO2 yields 2 MgO(s) + C(s)

    It would have been interesting to see what the dry ice looked like after the burn, ie: re-open the block.

    The light before it dies out it my favorite. The one without the lights on. Reminds me of a candle burning out. I like it, thanks for sharing.
