Extreme wood bending with ammonia

Bending wood with ammonia is not really DIY, but I show the process, which is extremely effective.  There is also a commercial product that is pre-treated flexible wood, which hardens after being clamped in the desired shape.
Hmm, it seems the product may no longer be available -- I can't find it at Inventables.

Pre-treated flexible wood product patent:

  1. Looks like the bendable wood inventables was selling was this:

It's a mechanical process, steaming then putting it in a hydraulic press.

  2. Hi Ben,
I noticed you're using a Supco VG64 micron gauge. Are you satisfied with that gauge? I've heard mixed reviews about it.

    1. Doug, yes I like using the gauge. I've never checked it against a more accurate gauge, so I couldn't say how accurate it is, but its readings seem very reasonable, it always works, and battery life is very good.

  3. How did you safely vent the ammonia when you opened up the pressure chamber?
